The First Steps Child Development Center provides childcare of the highest quality, stressing a safe, secure, and inclusive environment; a nurturing, professional team of staff; and the finest educational experiences. We are committed to providing a program that balances each child’s intellectual, physical, social, creative, and emotional needs and supports development across all domains of learning. We believe that early learning is relationship-based. Our fundamental goal is to establish trusting relationships among children, teachers, and parents that foster a sense of belonging and support healthy cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development. We value families as a child’s first and most important teacher and actively collaborate with families to support each child’s growth. All children develop at a different pace and possess a wide range of strengths and needs. It is our belief that children learn best through hands-on, stimulating, and engaging activities, as well as through consistent daily routines that support exploration, independence, and problem-solving. Our curriculum is guided by research-based early childhood practices and aligned with state early learning standards. We use ongoing observation and assessment to inform instruction and ensure each child’s individual development is supported. Our classroom environments are intentionallydesigned to be developmentally appropriate, inclusive, and culturally responsive. We honor and respect the diverse backgrounds, cultures, and experiences of the families we serve. Instruction is

guided by ongoing cycle of observation, documentation, assessment, planning, implementation, and reflection to ensure individualized learning experiences. We are here to provide a fun, educational atmosphere where children are encouraged to think critically, cooperate with peers, develop self-regulation skills, and build mutual respect. The mission of the First Steps Child Development Center is to provide childcare in a

caring, nurturing and developmentally rich environment within a safe, secure and clean

facility and to empower our team of employees to experience professional and personal

growth. Our mission is to build upon a child's natural curiosity to create a community of

learners. We nurture children’s curiosity and turn it into a love of learning. Program goals

are informed by child assessment data, family input, and ongoing program evaluation.
